MS in AIT: Our Admission Requirements

MS in Applied IT applicants must have completed a baccalaureate degree from an accredited program with a reputation for high academic standards, and have earned a GPA of B or better over their 60 highest-level credits. They must be experienced in the fundamentals of Information Technology, Quantitative Methods and Finance.

In addition, applicants:

  • Will provide three letters of recommendation, preferably from undergraduate professors or supervising officers in industry or government who are familiar with the applicant's professional accomplishments;
  • Will provide a detailed statement of career goals and professional aspirations;
  • Will show satisfactory performance on the Graduate Record Exam, and;
  • Whose native language is not English must have a minimum TOEFL score of 575 for the paper-based exam or 230 for the computer-based exam. (A minimum score of 600 for the paper-based exam or 250 for the computer-based exam is required for applicants who wish to be considered for a graduate teaching assistantship.)

Program Transfer Applicants

Students wishing to transfer to the MS in AIT from another Master's program within the Volgenau School may click the link below to download the appropriate form (those transfer students outside the School must re-apply, using the applicable link above). Please fill out and have the form signed off by your current department first, then bring the form to the Fairfax AIT Office (Engineering Building, Suite 5400, 5th Floor) for further signatures/processing.
