Academic Programs: Graduate
The MS in Applied Information Technology program leverages academic and industry best practices, processes, and methodologies in the areas of information technology (IT), analysis and management, and leadership and ethics. Mason’s objective for this comprehensive 30-credit program is to provide the best postgraduate IT education for highpotential, midcareer leaders, especially those working in or with the federal government.
A comprehensive educational and developmental experience is essential for aspiring senior leaders because of the rapid pace of technological innovation, the need for efficient and effective technology development, unwavering interoperability challenges, the scope and complexity of major systems design requirements, and the added complexity of operating in the federal sector.
The preeminent faculty for the MS in Applied IT Program includes professors from the Volgenau School and Mason’s School of Management and College of Humanities and Social Sciences, plus industry leaders with outstanding reputations in these disciplines. This highly credentialed team will take students way beyond theory and expose them to practical day-to-day IT issues. Our goal is to graduate men and women of competence and ethical integrity who can lead multidisciplinary teams in the design, justification, development, and management of a system of systems—from data to decision—in the federal and private sectors.
