Master of Science in Applied Information Technology

Understanding the criticality of keeping and exceeding pace, The Volgenau School of Information Technology and Engineering at George Mason University (GMU) will launch in Fall 2008 an innovative Master of Science Program – through its Department of Applied Information Technology (AIT) – that will leverage academic and industry best practices, processes and methodologies in the areas of IT, Analysis and Management, and Leadership and Ethics.

GMU's objective for this comprehensive 30-credit program is to provide the very best post-graduate IT education for high-potential, mid-career leaders, especially those working in or with the Federal Government.

A comprehensive educational and developmental experience is essential for aspiring senior leaders due to the pace of technological innovation, the need for efficient and effective technology development, unwavering interoperability challenges, the scope and complexity of major systems design requirements, and the added complexity of operating in the federal sector.

The preeminent faculty for the Master of Science in Applied Information Technology includes professors from The Volgenau School, the GMU School of Management, the GMU College of Humanities and Social Services, plus industry leaders with unique reputations in these disciplines. This highly credentialed team will expose students to the pragmatic day-to-day issues of IT, not just to a theory.

The goal is to graduate men and women of competence and character who can lead multi-disciplinary teams in the design, justification, development and the management of a "System of Systems" – from data to decision – in the federal and private sectors.
