Welcome to IST (Formerly AIT)

Welcome to the Department of Information Sciences and Technology (formerly the Department of Applied Information Technology). The Department is part of the Volgenau School of Engineering at George Mason University. The department offers a BS in Information Technology, a MS in Applied Information Technology, and participates in the school-wide PhD in Information Technology. We also provide various certificate and concentration options including a concentration in the inter-disciplinary MS in Data Analytics Engineering offered by VSE and a successful suite of programs for the Intelligence Community. Our programs are uniquely positioned to prepare graduates to succeed in the workforce. Faculty in the department have research interests in cybersecurity, learning analytics, data mining, networking and telecommunications, and educational outreach.
